Yercaud
is known for Coffee Plantations and Orange Groves. The lofty hills of
extraordinary scenic beauty are endowed with a salubrious climate. This
quiet little hill station on the Shevaroy hills of the Eastern Ghats is
the only one of its kind in Northern Tamil Nadu. Coffee and citrus
fruits, most notably oranges, are grown in abundance apart from bananas,
pears and jack. Scenically, Yercaud is as enchanting and picturesque as
the hill stations on the Western Ghats and trekking here can be one of
the most pleasurable ways to pass time. The first thing that attracts a
visitor is the lake. It is a picturesque pool surrounded by gardens and
well wooded trees. Before getting into this coffee-plantation hamlet,
you can drive through the textile town of Salem to pick some bright
handloom fabrics at half the price you would pay elsewhere.

Places of visit at Yercaud
The first thing that attracts a visitor is the Yercaud lake. It is a
picturesque pool surrounded by gardens and well wooded trees. Boating in
cold water of the lake is enhancing as well as refreshing.
Anna Park
Anna Park is a lovely garden near the lake. Lake Park, Gandhi Park,
Children Park are the other parks to be visited in Yercaud.
Lady's Seat
Lady's Seat links the winding Ghat Road and provides a breath-taking
view. This view is spectacular at night with the twinkling lights of
Salem town in sight. Tourists can have a panoramic view of the plains
below with the help of the telescope mounted at the Lady's Seat.
Pakoda Point
Pakoda Point is one of the most important places in yercaud is the
Pagoda point. The Pagoda Point, is so known because a number of
pyramid-like structures abound here. One can get a full view of Salem
from here.
Killiyur Falls
Feel the real shower of Killiyur falls at yercaud. A wonderful place
to enjoy.
Bear's Cave
Bear's Cave is situated near the Norton Bungalow on the way to
Servaroyan Temple. It is an important tourist spot.
Servaroyan Temple
The Servaroyan Temple is situated in the Servaroyan Hills. The tribals
here celebrate their Annual Festival in May every year.
Access
Air: The nearest is Trichy which is 180 km from Yercaud.
Road: Bus services operate from Salem Junction and Salem bus
stand to Yearcaud frequently. There is no town bus service in Yearcaud,
but certain buses coming from Salem ply through Yercaud and connect the
important Villages like Cauvery Peak, Valavanthi, Nagalur, Velakkadai,
Swinton Bridge with Yercaud.
Rail: Nearest rail - heads are Salem Junction (36 Kms) and Salem
Town (33 Kms).
